34 Passenger Coach Bus
A 34 passenger coach bus is a forward-facing vehicle with a legal seated capacity of 34. Counting the driver it carries 35 people, which places it at or above the federal 16-person line that decides whether the driver must hold a commercial license with a passenger endorsement. Plan around roughly 32 passengers for comfort rather than filling every seat, and your contract will name the seating capacity of the vehicle we are sending you.

Seated versus comfortable
How many people really fit
34
Legal seated capacity of this configuration
~32
Comfortable for a full evening with movement and bags
Forward-facing coach seats are sized close to their rated capacity, so 34 seated is realistic for a transfer. Leave a seat or two spare if people are carrying coats, bags or equipment on board rather than putting them in the bay.
At this size
What a group of 34 looks like on the day
Thirty-four is a tour group, a church congregation on a weekend trip, or a corporate team moving between a hotel and an off-site venue. It is large enough that a residential pickup almost never works for the whole group, so the plan usually starts from a hotel, an office or a church car park where a full-length vehicle can swing in, load from one point and leave without reversing.
At this capacity the vehicle is a mid-size coach: a full bus body with forward-facing reclining rows, an aisle, overhead racks, a PA system and underfloor or rear luggage space, often without a restroom. It is the shuttle and tour vehicle for a group that does not fill a motorcoach, and it still needs a coach-sized loading point at a hotel or a venue.
- 34 seats is 9 rows of four with 2 seats in the last row, each row with its own window pair and overhead rack.
- A 120-guest wedding block moves in 4 rotations on this vehicle and a 60-guest block in 2; each rotation is a full round trip between hotel and venue, so the loop time sets the arrival window.
- 34 is 4 tables of eight plus 2, so a dinner group that fills this vehicle usually has a part-table of plus-ones.
Driver licensing
What licence this size requires
At 34 passengers plus a driver, this vehicle is designed to carry 35 people, which puts it over the federal 16-person line in 49 CFR 383.5. Your chauffeur holds a commercial driver's license with a passenger (P) endorsement, and when the route crosses a state line we run it under active interstate operating authority with our USDOT number on file. That is not something you have to chase us for โ it is on the paperwork.
Seating and restraints
Seating layout and seat belts
Forward-facing reclining rows with three-point or lap belts on the newer coaches, a center aisle and overhead racks. Restrooms are standard on the full-size coaches and not fitted on the mini-coaches, so on a long route we will tell you which one you are getting and where the comfort stops fall.
Luggage
What you can actually bring
Full-size coaches carry luggage in underfloor bays, which is why this class handles airport runs, tours and multi-day trips without anyone hugging a suitcase. Mini-coaches at the lower capacities often have no bay and take bags in the rear rows instead. Tell us how many bags are coming and we will size the vehicle so nobody loses a seat to a duffel.

One size either way
Should you size up or down?
Size down
32 Passenger Coach Bus
2 fewer seats. Worth comparing if your confirmed count is closer to 32: easier to route and park, and no empty seats on the bill.
Size up
36 Passenger Coach Bus
2 more seats. Worth comparing if the list could grow past 34, or if you want room for bags and movement rather than a full cabin.
