Coach Buses

A motorcoach is a full-size highway bus with forward-facing reclining seats, under-floor luggage bays and, on the full-size units, a restroom. Ours seat roughly 36 to 56. It is the vehicle for large groups, long-distance days and conference or wedding loops. It is not built for a celebration that needs standing room and a bar.

Coaches are what we send when the group is large or the day is long. Restroom, luggage bay volume, wheelchair lift, power outlets and driver-hour scheduling all differ between a 36-seat mini-coach and a 56-seat highway coach, so we size and schedule the vehicle against the actual route.

Not sure this is the right class? Send us the headcount, the stops and the time you need to arrive. If a different vehicle would serve the night better, we will say so and quote that one instead.

Coach Bus facts that change the decision

Typical capacity16 to 56 seated passengers, from mini-coaches to full-size highway coaches
Seating and layoutForward-facing high-back reclining seats with belts on the newer coaches, overhead racks, under-floor luggage bays and a restroom on the full-size units
Best for
  • Groups above roughly 35 passengers
  • Long regional or interstate days
  • Conference shuttles, wedding loops and anything traveling with luggage
Usually a poor fit for
  • Celebrations that want perimeter seating, standing room and a bar
  • Tight urban streets and short-notice curbside pickups
  • Groups under 25, where a shuttle or mini-coach costs less and parks easier
What your quote spells out
  • Seating capacity and luggage bay volume together, so the bags and the people both fit
  • Restroom, Wi-Fi, power outlets and wheelchair lift on the coach we are sending
  • How your schedule is staffed: long itineraries can need a second chauffeur or an overnight
  • Parking, tolls, low clearances and any route restriction between your stops

What coach bus requests look like

Proms are 8% of the trips we run.

August is our biggest wine-tour month at about 14% of bookings, followed by May at 12%.

  • Across our bookings

Our busiest months are May, August, September and October; January and February are the quietest. Spring proms and graduations and early-autumn weddings and football are when popular vehicles are hardest to get on short notice.

Coach Bus questions

Direct answers about capacity, rules and fit.

How many passengers fit on a coach bus?

Our full-size coaches seat 44 to 56 and our mini-coaches 16 to 36. Forward-facing coach seats are individually sized, so unlike perimeter seating the rated number is a number you can genuinely fill. Your contract names the seating capacity and the luggage bay for the coach we are sending.

Do coach buses have restrooms?

The full-size coaches do. The mini-coaches do not, which is the main reason we steer a long route toward a full-size unit even when the headcount would fit a smaller one. If the restroom matters, tell us and we will schedule around it.

Are there rules about how long a coach driver can drive?

Yes. Commercial passenger drivers work under federal hours-of-service limits, which cap driving time and require off-duty rest. On a long itinerary that means we either build a second chauffeur into the quote or plan an overnight, and we tell you which before you book rather than discovering it at hour eleven.
