Bar Hop Time Calculator

A great bar crawl hits all the right spots with time to enjoy each one. But groups almost always underestimate travel time between venues and end up cutting stops or paying overtime. Therefore, add your 3–6 planned bars with time per stop, and the calculator layers in realistic travel time to tell you exactly how many rental hours you need.

What the Bar Hop Time Calculator computes, and what it cannot

What it computes

List three to six bars with the minutes you want at each and the drive to the next, and the calculator adds up time at venues, time on the road and the total, then rounds up to the whole hours you would need to book. It separates venue time from travel time so you can see how much of the night is spent moving.

When to use it

Use it when the bar list exists but the hours do not. Most crawl plans look fine at forty minutes a bar and fall apart once the ten to fifteen minutes of loading at each end is added, so the calculator is the quickest way to find out whether the list is a four-hour night or a seven-hour one before you commit to either.

What it cannot tell you

It cannot know the queue at the door, the curb situation outside each bar or which venue will refuse a group of twenty on a Saturday. Those decide the real timeline as much as drive time does. We check curb and venue access for your route when we quote, and a spare venue at the end of the list is the best protection against a long line.

Bar Hop Time Calculator questions

What people ask about this tool and the decision behind it.

How long should we spend at each bar?

Forty-five minutes is the calculator default and about right for a drink and a look around; an hour at the venue you care most about. Shorter than thirty minutes rarely works once loading is counted.

How many bars fit in a five-hour rental?

Four at forty-five minutes each with short drives, three if the venues are spread out. Two bars within a block of each other can share one vehicle stop and a walk, which buys an extra venue.

Does travel time include loading?

Only if you add it. Enter drive time plus ten to fifteen minutes for getting everyone off and back on, which is the figure the night will really run at.
