Tip & Gratuity Calculator

Gratuity treatment varies from one company and contract to the next. First check the written quote for a service charge or driver gratuity line. If you decide to add a percentage, this calculator performs the arithmetic without claiming that one percentage is required or customary for every trip.

Check the written quote first. A service charge or gratuity may already be included, and we will tell you exactly who receives it. This calculator does not prescribe a percentage.

Questions to resolve before paying

  • โ€ข Does the quote already include a gratuity or service charge?
  • โ€ข Is any included amount mandatory, optional or adjustable?
  • โ€ข Does the full amount go to the driver?
  • โ€ข Which total is used if a percentage is calculated?

What the Tip & Gratuity Calculator computes, and what it cannot

What it computes

Enter the written contract total and a percentage you choose, and the calculator returns the additional amount and the total including it. That is the whole computation, by design: it performs the arithmetic without asserting that any percentage is required or customary.

When to use it

Use it after the written quote arrives and you have checked whether a service charge or driver gratuity line is already on it. If gratuity is included, the tool is not needed. If it is not and you want to add something, choose your percentage and the calculator does the splitting for the group.

What it cannot tell you

It cannot tell you whether gratuity is already included, which is the question that matters. Our quotes itemize gratuity as its own line so there is no doubt; read that line before you reach for a percentage. The tool also cannot tell you what is customary, because that varies by trip and by what the contract already covers.

When the tool has done its part, call us at 844-725-4257 or send the itinerary and we name the bus, the itemized total and the written terms.

Tip & Gratuity Calculator questions

What people ask about this tool and the decision behind it.

Is gratuity included in a party bus quote?

It depends on the contract. Ours itemizes it as a line on the flat total so you can see exactly what is included. Check that line before deciding whether to add anything.

What percentage should we tip the chauffeur?

The calculator does not recommend one. If gratuity is not already on the contract, choose a percentage the group is comfortable with; the tool only does the arithmetic.

How do we split a gratuity among the group?

Enter the contract total and your percentage, then divide the additional amount by the number of people paying. The Budget Guardrail Planner can do the per-person division if you prefer.

What the inquiry data shows

  • Across our bookings

Nights out are 5% of the trips we book.

  • Across our bookings

11% of the trips we have on the books are for December dates.

  • Across our bookings

Our busiest months are May, August, September and October; January and February are the quietest. Spring proms and graduations and early-autumn weddings and football are when popular vehicles are hardest to get on short notice.
